Leicester City are close to agreeing a deal to sign Michael Golding from Chelsea

Leicester City are close to agreeing a deal to sign Michael Golding from Chelsea.

The East Midlands club have agreed to sell Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea and are interested in acquiring Golding in a separate deal.

A potential deal would not include a sell-on clause or match rights for Chelsea in any future transfer involving the teenage midfielder – unlike Omari Hutchinson’s impending move to Ipswich Town.

The 19-year-old made his first-team debut under former manager Mauricio Pochettino in the FA Cup third-round win over Preston North End last season.

Golding is regarded as one of Chelsea’s brightest prospects and previously attracted the attention of Brighton & Hove Albion, although that interest has cooled more recently.

He made four appearances, scoring one goal, as Chelsea’s under-18s reached the last 16 of the FA Youth Cup.

Dewsbury-Hall, meanwhile, are close to completing a move in the opposite direction after Leicester accepted a bid of around £30million.

The Leicester academy product is set to undergo a medical before signing a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder will see the versatile midfielder reunite with former Foxes boss Enzo Maresca, who was appointed as Pochettino’s successor last month.

In March, Leicester were referred to an independent commission by the Premier League for an alleged breach of profitability and sustainability (PSR) rules in the three-year reporting period ending in the 2022-23 season.

Leicester hope the sale of Dewsbury-Hall as a Homegrown player will alleviate any concerns about not meeting the PSR.
