The jackpot rises to $97 million

The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday’s drawing has grown to $97 million after no one won the big prize on Friday.

The winning numbers were drawn just after 11pm ET on Tuesday and we have the results below.

One lucky player could walk away with an estimated $46.4 million in cash in a lump sum payment after taxes, according to the lottery.

Two people have won a Mega Millions jackpot this year: in March, when a player from New Jersey walked away with $1.13 billion, and earlier this month, when a player from Illinois won $552 million.

How to play Mega Millions

To buy a ticket, you’ll need to visit your local convenience store, gas station, or grocery store—and in a few states, you can buy tickets online.

To play, you will need to pick six numbers. Five numbers will be white balls from 1 to 70. Gold Mega Ball is a number between 1 and 25.

If you think the odds are against you, ask for a “Quick Pick” or a “Simple Pick”, the computer will randomly generate the numbers for you.

Players can add the “Megaplier” for $1, which can increase non-grand prize winnings by two, three, four or five times. The Megaplier is drawn before the Mega Millions numbers on Tuesdays and Fridays.
