Dan Walker is furious as neighbors throw rubbish into his bin – including the toilet

TV news anchor Dan Walker slammed neighbors who took the opportunity to load him with all kinds of trash. The Channel 5 star from Sheffield said people had thrown kitchen cupboards, bin bags – and even an old toilet in there.

The Strictly Come Dancing contestant took to Instagram this morning and said: ‘I’m aware there are far more important things going on in the world but… are there accepted limits when it comes to ignoring other people?

“My dad always taught us that if you want to put something in someone else’s skip, you wait a few days and then you go and ask if they have room left and they bother. I had one this week, right outside the house while I was doing some work. Every day a lot of new things appeared there – a toilet, fence posts, kitchen cabinets, garbage bags, etc. – and no one asked!”

Then Dan asked the question, “What do you think? Maybe I’m an idiot.” His followers agreed with his assessment of ‘jump etiquette’, with Joey saying: ‘I should definitely ask. You went out of your way to stock up and pay for it.”

Natalief said, “He should ask! On the other side, I’ve had people rummaging through my halls for metal…but most knocked on the door to ask first.”

Nat.right.now said: “My brother hired a skip and went out of his way every night to tie a tarp securely over it every night to stop this very thing. It seemed extreme, but it worked!” Quirkyfreckle added: “She should definitely ask! It’s courtesy! You paid for it, so why should others add big items and fill the space!”

On the legal implications of using someone else’s skip, the JustHire website said people doing it could theoretically be charged with fly-tipping: “If you are caught with fly-tipping, including littering and unwanted in someone’s skip, you can be fined up to £. 5000.

“To report flight tipping, contact your local authority. It can be difficult to prove that someone dumped rubbish in the skip if you don’t have a CCTV camera or photographic evidence. Another option, if you notice your flight overturning, is to call the non-emergency police number. Reporting fly tipping is a community responsibility, helping your neighbors so they in turn help you in a time of need.”
