Man charged with GBH after police officer stabbed in Enfield

A man has been charged with GBH after a police officer was stabbed in north London. James Moore, 30, of Aldgate, is due to appear before Willesden magistrates on Wednesday.

The officer was stabbed while responding to reports of a man with a knife in Mandeville Road, Enfield, just before 4.30pm on Tuesday.

He was given emergency first aid at the scene. He was then taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Moore faces a total of five charges including GBH, possession of a knife, possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin and possession of cannabis. A police statement said: “The charges follow an incident at 4.25pm ​​on Tuesday, April 16, when an Enfield officer was stabbed while responding to reports of a man with a knife in Mandeville Road. “The injured officer was immediately supported by fellow police officers who provided him with first aid. He was taken to the hospital where he remains under treatment; his condition is stable.”

Commander Owain Richards said: “This officer’s actions demonstrate the best of the Met, showing courage in dealing with an extremely dangerous situation. It also reminds us of the challenges our officers face every day as they do their duty to protect the public.”
