All road closures and restrictions as Ironman 70.3 comes to Bolton

Several roads will be closed this weekend as the popular Ironman triathlon returns.

In less than a week, over 2,000 athletes will descend on Bolton to compete in the Ironman 70.3 race on Sunday 30 June.

More than 1,200 athletes are also set to take part in the Night Run on Friday 28 June, followed by the world’s largest IronKids race with almost 6,000 children taking part on Saturday 29 June.

People attending the events are advised to plan their travel around Bolton and surrounding areas in advance to avoid road closure issues.

Detours will also be signposted so motorists can navigate the area easily.

Road closures and restrictions include:

June 28 from 6:00 to July 1 at 9:00:

  • For its full length: Victoria Square North, Le Mans Crescent, Old Hall Street North, Victoria Square South, Coronation Street, Howell Croft North, Howell Croft South.

  • Ashburner Street from Howell Croft South to Blackhorse Street.

  • Suspension of bus lanes: Blackhorse Street from Ashburner Street to Deansgate.

  • Suspension of one-way street: Queen Street along its entire length.

June 28 from 4:00 p.m. to June 30 at 6:00 p.m.:

June 28 from 6:00 to July 1 at 9:00:

  • Suspension of taxi ranks: Howell Croft North, Bradshawgate.

“Over the course of the weekend, there’s a real variety of events. Night Run Bolton UK has options for both casual joggers and dedicated runners, IRONKIDS encourages our young people to be active and enjoy exercise and IRONMAN 70.3 Bolton provides a stern test for determined athletes.
