Liverpool may take advantage of ‘fire sale’ to complete £30m transfer

Liverpool have been given a boost in their reported transfer pursuit of Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville.

Reports in recent weeks have claimed that the Reds could be interested in signing Summerville this summer. The striker has scored 20 goals in all competitions for Leeds this season, including 19 in the Championship.

A new era will begin at Anfield this summer as Jurgen Klopp leaves the club after his final game against Wolves on Sunday. Feyenoord boss Arne Slot is expected to succeed Klopp as Liverpool’s next manager and there has already been speculation about potential transfer targets.

Summerville is a player who has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer. And now, a new report has provided an update on Leeds’ position on their striker’s future at Elland Road.

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds look set to be forced to sell some of their star players this summer. The report claims a “fire sale” is expected at Leeds if they fail to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds face Norwich City in the second leg of their Championship semi-final on Thursday night. The tie remains deadlocked after a goalless first leg at Carrow Road last week.

The report claims that if Leeds fail to gain promotion to the Premier League, the club would need to secure player sales of almost £100m to avoid any financial breach this year. This could involve letting some of their star players leave the club, including Summerville, as well as Illan Meslier, Wilfried Gnonto, Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter.

Liverpool are said in the report to have scouted Summerville in recent months, but could face competition from Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa for his signature. It has been claimed that Leeds could demand a fee of around £30m to let Summerville leave the club.
