Cornwall, Ont. is a picturesque riverside town with a unique geographic location at the convergence of the borders of Ontario, Quebec and New York.

With a population of under 50,000, Cornwall is considered the easternmost city in Ontario and is approximately 430 kilometers east of Toronto or 100 kilometers southeast of Ottawa.

The city stretches along the river St. Lawrence and hosts St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation, which oversees navigation and shipping activities for St. Lawrence Seaway.

Given its proximity to the river and its extensive network of around 40 kilometers of recreational trails, Cornwall sees most of its tourist activity during the summer.

From July 25 to 28, the city is set to host its annual Ribfest, featuring savory ribs cooked by award-winning pitmasters as well as live entertainment.

Located in Lamoureux Park is Marina 200 where most of Cornwall’s waterfront boating activities take place. The marina has a capacity of 160 boats and is open until October 6, 2024.

One of the town’s hidden gems is Guindon Park, which covers 500 acres and offers access to Cornwall’s off-road cycle routes, dozens of kilometers of walking trails, picnic areas and horse riding.

If you prefer to explore a little more indoors, you can always visit the Cornwall Community Museum, which is free to visit and displays archival materials, furniture, textiles and household items ranging from different time periods.

There is also the Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Center – a state-of-the-art building that offers an interactive and historical look at the Seaway and the St. Lawrence.

Just seven minutes’ drive away is Archie’s Family Golf Centre, a Cornwall institution that was born in the late 1950s and offers a chance for the whole family to work on their swings or battle it out in a game of mini- put
