Roadworks for next week as the Godiva Festival is about to start

This week marks the long-awaited return of the Godiva Festival, which celebrates its 25th anniversary. This means many celebrants will be traveling to the War Memorial Park and drivers should be aware of roadworks in place in Coventry to avoid traffic congestion.

It will be a busy weekend with many people traveling from many areas, so it is vital to ensure advanced travel plans are in place for those visiting Coventry. A lot of road works are taking place in the city, from drainage works, road improvements, new bridges and structures, as well as fixing the many potholes.




Drivers should allow extra time for their journeys this week, particularly around the city center for the Godiva Festival and those using the UK’s motorway networks. Check out our guide below of the city’s roadworks to watch out for this week,

  • Macauly Road – road closed from 9am to 3pm until Friday 19 July for road reconstruction.
  • Alderminster Road (from Broad Lane to Aynho Close) – lane closure from 7.30am to 4pm until Friday 26 July for road reconstruction.
  • New Union Street Car Park – pavement closed until Friday 19 July for pavement reconstruction.
  • Thomas Naul Croft – road closed from 7.30am to 4pm until Friday 5 July for road improvements.
  • Edmund Road – road closed from 7.30am to 4pm until Friday 12 July for road improvements.
  • Holbrook Lane (Jimmy Hill Roundabout to Holbrook Lane Roundabout) – road closed from 7.30am to 4pm until Wednesday 10 July for resurfacing.
  • Tamworth Road (Lung Lane junction) – road closed from 6pm to 5am until Thursday 11 July for resurfacing.
  • Beechwood Avenue (intersection with Hartington Crescent) – three way lights from 7.30am to 4pm until Thursday 18 July for ELN (Mixed Pavement and Carriageway).
  • Earlsdon Street (From Moor Street to the island end of Earlsdon St) – lane closure from 7.30am to 4pm until Friday 9 August for ELN (Mixed carriageway).

  • Sullivan Road – road closed from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Thursday, July 4 for resurfacing.

  • Sunway Grove – road closed between 7.30am and 4pm until Tuesday 16 July for road resurfacing.

  • Ringway (Ringway St Nicholas to Ringway Whitefriars) – lane 2 closure from 9am to 3pm until Tuesday 9 July for carriageway inspection.

  • Cromwell Lane (Charter Avenue to Duggins Lane) – road closed from 8pm to 5am until Friday 12 July for resurfacing works.
