Cornwall’s brand new food festival is coming to Penzance this autumn

The first Penzance Food Festival will take place this autumn. Organizers of the free event said it promises to provide a “vibrant platform for chefs, food producers, musicians and artists to showcase their craft within the leafy confines of Penlee Park”.

The event is run by three Cornish foodies; Harry James-Mills and Barney Farnworth bring their experience of running the hugely successful Falmouth Food Festival, now in its third year, and Oona Burch, chef and baker, brings her local knowledge of Penzance and all it has to offer.

Event organizer Oona Burch said: “Penzance and West Penwith have long been an inspirational setting for artists and are rich in produce from land and sea. We want to create a platform for the community and visitors to engage with the people who grow, catch, produce and cook their food, and throw a welcoming and fun event while we’re at it.

“We were the first city in the country to be awarded plastic-free status, and that dedication to sustainability has become second nature to many of the city’s businesses. We want to support seasonality, sustainability and locality and show that it is possible.”

The festival will take place between September 13-15, between 10:00 and 20:00. Harry James-Mills said: “We have been overwhelmed by the response to the launch of the event, it is something residents and businesses have been waiting for and we know they will turn up and support us. Penzance and Cornwall are full of culinary delights. talent, musical expertise, premium products and outstanding creatives.”
