Black Community Health and Wellbeing Day returns to Kennington on Saturday 6 July 2024

Black Community Health and Wellbeing Day returns to Kennington on July 6 from 11am to 4pm and features music, food and free health checks.

Visitors will be able to get advice on managing conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, healthy eating tips, support for your mental health, learn how to spot the early signs of cancer and more.

There will also be free food, uplifting music and fun activities throughout the day, including dance, art, drumming and fitness classes.

Bimpe Oki, Lambeth Together’s Staying Healthy program co-ordinator and public health consultant, said:

“The council, the NHS and voluntary organizations in Lambeth are coming together again to host a fun yet informative event for our black residents.

“Black communities face significantly higher risks of serious health problems, such as the risk of developing diabetes, high blood pressure and mental health challenges. As a partnership, we are dedicated to overcoming this inequality.

“This special event will be a unique chance for residents to learn more about the various health checks, services and information available under one roof. Please come and share this with your networks.”
