Two shootings in south London as police appeal for witnesses

Police are investigating two reports of shots fired in south London within hours of each other.

Detectives want to speak to anyone who saw a black VW ID.5 driving around the High Trees Estate in Tulse Hill, Lambeth, just after midnight on Thursday.

Police responded, but no injuries were reported.

Detective Inspector Martin Thomas appealed for anyone in the area at the time – or who noticed suspicious activity – to come forward.

At around 1pm on Friday, the Metropolitan Police responded to reports of a firearm being discharged 11 miles away in the vicinity of Lakedale Road, Plumstead.

One car was damaged, but again no casualties were identified.

DI Thomas said: “All reports of this kind are taken incredibly seriously and are thoroughly investigated.

“I am asking anyone who was in the area and heard or saw shots fired to contact us immediately. I also want to ask local residents to check the doorbell and dash cam recordings to see if they have caught anything that can help us.”

Among the recent shootings, 20-year-old Sebastiaan James-Kraan died in hospital five days after he was shot by a group of men in Hanwell on June 9.

His next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem examination will take place next week. No arrests have been made.

“He was a kind, loving, gentle man with a beautiful soul who will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends. A gentle giant with a heart of pure gold.

A nine-year-old girl is still fighting for her life following a shooting in Dalston, one of at least six people injured in four attacks in just two weeks.
