Online streaming Arsenal vs. Manchester United Premier League 2024: start time, TV channels, how to watch online

Arsenal travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United today on the Gunners’ final away day of the Premier League season. We all know what’s at stake for Mikel Arteta’s side – they need to win to keep their title hopes alive. United are currently 8th, outside of the inward looking European places. They have a game in hand over the clubs they are chasing and a result against Arsenal would go a long way to securing continental football next season. If United fail to qualify for Europe in the table, they will have the FA Cup final against Manchester City as another bite at the apple.

Either way, it’s not like Arsenal or Manchester United need much motivation today. These two clubs do not like each other. Matches are almost always close affairs, regardless of form or table position. Old Trafford hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Arsenal of late, although that record isn’t really applicable to this list. For the most part, the losing streak has been shared by different Arsenal players and managers.

If the Gunners needed any further reason to take it to the hosts, they need look no further than the 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford earlier last season. Arsenal had an opening goal disallowed by VAR for a “foul” by Martin Ødegaard, a decision which was later admitted to be a mistake by the PGMOL. Instead, United opened the scoring, allowing them to play the counter-attacking game they wanted instead of having to chase the game.

When the two clubs met earlier this season, Arsenal won 3-1 thanks to stoppage time goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus. Although it took an extremely long time to get there, the result was a fair one. The Gunners dominated the match, winning 12 corners and firing 17 shots. Had it not been for the late heroics, VAR would have been the main talking point after the game. The Gunners had a penalty awarded on the pitch overturned by VAR. Manchester United had a goal that would have brought them 2-1 correctly ruled out for offside. Give an assist to Gabriel Magalhaes offside – his quick, nimble dive at the back found Alejandro Garnacho.

If you ask Erik ten Hag, Manchester United should have had a penalty in the match. I’m not sure why, but he’s told the media several times, all of it virtually unprompted. He has an ax to grind and will have the side ready to go.

United have the quality to hurt you if you make mistakes. Rasmus Højlund has settled in well in the Premier League after a slow start. Bruno Fernandes is one of the best in the Premier League at creating chances. We have all seen the quality that Marcus Rashford possesses. Despite his down year compared to last season’s stellar campaign, players this good can rediscover their form anytime they step on the field.

UPDATE: Neither Fernandes nor Rashford are available for selection.

Whoever picks ten Hags in attack will have to contend with Arsenal’s stingy defence, a group that have been particularly good away from the Emirates this season and incredibly good this calendar year. The Gunners have conceded just 8 goals in 16 Premier League games in 2024 and have kept a clean sheet in 6 of their 8 away games. Arsenal have conceded just 13 away goals all season in 18 matches and have amassed a +29 away goal difference, the best in the competition. I really hope I didn’t just fool the club.

Arsenal are fully fit. Jurrien Timber traveled with the team to Manchester, (match day?). Takehiro Tomiyasu and Bukayo Saka were held back from practice at different times this week, but it was just maintenance and rest. Both are (in the starting lineup?).

Manchester United, on the other hand, are dealing with a slew of injuries. Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, Willy Kambwala and Tyrell Malacia are all at the back. Anthony Martial, Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford are also unavailable.

The Gunners really have no excuse not to beat United today. But don’t underestimate the aura of Old Trafford and Manchester United. Funny things can happen, especially when you throw in some young, hungry players looking to make a statement.
