Ipswich are targeting the Sky Sports pundit and Leeds during the promotion parade

Ipswich Town targeted a Sky Sports pundit for questioning their Premier League credentials as the players enjoyed a beer-fuelled promotion parade.

Open bus celebrations saw defender Luke Woolfenden rant to the crowd about Don Goodman blaming the Suffolk club for dropping out of the promotion hunt. “I’ll have to sit for six weeks now and listen to Don Goodman tell us we’re not good enough for the Prem like we were in the Champ,” Woolfenden said. “We’ll still finish in the middle of the meal, Don, but don’t worry about it.” This group can do whatever we want, man. I worked so hard.”

After suggesting Ipswich were unlikely to maintain their promotion momentum, Goodman said Ipswich’s “defensive record is a bit shocking for a team going for automatic promotion” compared to Leicester and Leeds, who were “solid and efficient in both speakers”.

With Leeds now facing the play-offs, the players on the bus also joined in chants of ‘Leeds falling apart again’ to Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart.

Ipswich’s return to the top tier after a 22-year wait followed a 2-0 win over Huddersfield at Portman Road on Saturday. Woolfenden, asked if life could get any better than that, later said, “It’s going to get better when we have a moment of silence for Don Goodman.”

After the cheers, he added: “I think he’ll be absolutely gutted that we’ve been promoted. He called us c—- all season.”
