Assaults on police officers in Wiltshire are on the rise, data says

The number of attacks on police officers in Wiltshire has risen over the past three years, according to figures released by the force.

In 2021, the force recorded 225 assaults on officers, but in 2023 this figure rose to almost 400, with 321 recorded in 2022.

May 2023 saw the highest number of attacks, with 47.

So far in 2024, 194 attacks have been recorded.

The peak was in February, with 47 – equaling the highest point in the previous three years.
