WATCH: Wakefield Trinity get in on the Euros party with wild England celebrations

Wakefield Trinity players joined in the party mood when England made a last-gasp comeback in the Euros yesterday.

They traveled to Cumbria for a game against Barrow Raiders yesterday, heading into the fixture with a 6-point lead at the top of the RFL Championship table already.

Trinity went into the game after a huge 46-24 victory over Halifax Panthers the previous week, making sure they shook off any cobwebs as they narrowly avoided defeat to Widnes Vikings.

Again, they ran out comfortable winners, defeating Barrow 36-0 thanks to a display that saw former Castleford Tigers winger Derrell Olpherts pick up a hat-trick of tries, despite half-back Mason Lino missing out, giving Liam Kay an opportunity to start .

Lachlan Walmsley also stepped off the bench to kick two conversions to show that full-back Max Jowitt isn’t the only one in the squad capable of kicking.

Trinity’s game in Cumbria kicked off at 2pm, with it ending around 80 minutes before the England game, against Slovakia, started – meaning the squad were on the bus for the ride home during the crucial Euros clash.

Much like the rest of the country, they would have been watching a painful first 95 minutes of the game that saw Slovakia 1-0 up and that failed to see a single shot on target registered for the Three Lions.

However, late in stoppage time, Jude Bellingham scored a remarkable overhead kick to take the game to extra time – sparking jubilant scenes on the team bus.

Although there was a wait of over half-an-hour for the first goal, the second one came just minutes into extra time, courtesy of a Harry Kane header, and the scenes were back – with Luke Gale leading the celebrations!

Wakefield Trinity next play next Sunday against Batley Bulldogs, so they should be able to watch the game elsewhere, as England face Switzerland on Saturday.
