Cushman & Wakefield, a global real estate services firm, has announced the appointment of Anthony Dixon as Head of Living Land and Development.

Anthony joins from independent property consultancy Allsop, where he spent the last 14 years in the Residential Transactional and Live Markets team advising on disposals, acquisitions and developments for a wide range of clients.

“Our continued investment in our Living offering enables us to support the growing number of developers and investors focused on residential opportunities as a viable route to capital growth. Anthony is a highly accomplished specialist who joins at a time of significant expansion both within the Living team at Cushman & Wakefield and in the wider sector as a whole. Anthony will work with our teams supporting clients in repurposing assets and helping clients dispose of land and buildings to capitalize on the strength of the Living sector. The UK housing sector will enjoy sustained growth over the next five years and Anthony joins a strong team providing value-added advice and insights to our clients.”

At Cushman & Wakefield, Anthony will lead development and land transactions and advise clients in the Living sectors, including all residential locations, senior housing, purpose-built student housing (PBSA) and co-living.

He will report to David Haynes, UK Head of Specialty Markets and will work alongside Head of Living, Charles Whitworth, as well as Paul Wickenden, Jim Cooper and Declan Pope in the Living Land and Development team.

As part of the ongoing expansion of the Living sector, Cushman & Wakefield recently announced the appointments of Mike Gorman, who joins later in the year to lead the Residential Capital Markets business in the UK’s core regional markets, and Jack Wagner as an associate in the Residential Capital Markets team. . Emily Fox and John Freker have also joined as partners in residential valuation and advisory and student accommodation investment respectively.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Living teams operate across BTR, PRS, PBSA, Senior Living and the wider residential and land markets, providing a range of capital markets, valuation and advisory, consultancy and development services.

A report by Cushman & Wakefield found that demand for university places has reached a record high, but a slowdown in the delivery of new accommodation caused by the pandemic, as well as rising costs and inflation, is hampering the viability of construction.

Affordability issues for students also mean a widening gap between the maintenance loan and the cost of living could have an impact on where young people choose to study.
