Stainless steel plaque in memory of Bob Kerslake

A plaque to Lord Robert Kerslake was unveiled in the Winter Gardens this afternoon.

Bob, as he was universally known, was Chief Executive of Sheffield City Council from 1997 to 2008, moving to Sheffield from the London Borough of Hounslow.

His achievements were wide-ranging and included leading the Council to the National Council of the Year award in 2005 and pioneering much of the regeneration of the city center today, including the Winter Gardens, Peace Gardens and Millennium Square.

A small group, including Bob’s loved ones and a number of people from Sheffield City Council who worked closely with him over the years, came together to unveil the stainless steel plaque and listen to speeches commemorating the time spent in the city and its duration. inheritance.

James Henderson, Director of Policy and Democratic Engagement, worked closely with Bob during his time on the Council and gave a speech about his memories of him.

James said: “Bob has always supported our city and strongly believed in the power of public service and the impact it has on people’s lives.

“He cares deeply about the people of Sheffield and has worked to tackle the inequalities faced by people living in the city.

“His impact and influence on the city can still be seen today and is a testament to Bob’s dedication not only to his role but to the whole of Sheffield.

“Bob is missed by all of us and we will continue to deliver on the impressive legacy he left behind.”
