Manchester United star Antony is wrong for what he did to Coventry City

Manchester United winger Antony has been criticized for turning his ear to Coventry City players and fans after his side made the FA Cup final.

United looked on at Wembley Stadium but were pulled from 3-0 down shortly after Antony was brought on for Alejandro Garnacho. Ellis Simms, Callum O’Hare and Haji Wright scored to take the game into extra time.

Simms hit the crossbar in the last 30 minutes, while Victor Torp had a goal ruled out for offside on VAR review. Penalties separated the two teams in the end and while most of the celebrations on the pitch were curtailed, Antony chose to mock Coventry.

However, his behavior was criticized by former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor and Manchester Evening News chief writer Samuel Luckhurst. Agbonlahor tweeted: “Antony does his ears as he celebrates in front of the Coventry players.

“Is this guy the most shameless flop ever to grace our beautiful league? Shame on you Antony you wouldn’t even start for Coventry you’re in denial.”

Luckhurst continued with: “The only thing more embarrassing than United’s performance after 70 minutes was Antony’s reaction to the penalty shootout win when he cut off his ears in front of the Coventry players. His social media post this morning referred to them as “Covertry”. they are playing at their level today”.

The post the MEN journalist refers to comes from Antony’s Instagram story, who announced to his followers around the world that he was in action today. Antony has just two goals and two assists this season, with one of his goals coming against League Two Newport County earlier in the competition.
