Advice from the experts in Greater Manchester

There are less than 48 hours until polling stations open across the country

Greater Manchester’s political experts share their advice for people who don’t know who to vote for in the general election.

With polling stations open in less than 48 hours, the latest statistics from YouGov show that around one in eight people are still undecided about who to vote for.

Professor Colin Talbot is from the University of Manchester, said: “I don’t think you need to read the manifestos and some of them are quite long… There are lots of websites that will actually list policy comparisons for you – these are the main points on which the parties differ or agree.

“I wouldn’t worry too much about the manifests, and not everything is in the manifests anyway.”

Professor Colin has this reminder for people on the day: “Show yourself. It is the first thing to remember.

“See and take some form of ID with you. We now have voter ID in operation. There is quite a range of different types of ID available. Obviously, the most obvious ones are your passport or driver’s license if you have them. But if you don’t have the right ID, you won’t be allowed to vote.”
