Leeds United fan ‘cut himself outside Norwich City’s Carrow Road stadium with two people arrested’ after play-off semi-final draw

Two people are said to have been arrested after a Leeds United supporter was slashed following the club’s draw with Norwich at Carrow Road.

Reports shared on social media claim that a violent incident involving a blade took place following the full-time whistle in the first leg of the play-off semi-finals.

According to The Sun, two people have been taken into police custody, although it is unclear if the arrests are related to the incident.

@DorsetHottub tweeted a picture of a man bleeding from a cut on his neck with the words: “Walked out of Carrow Road after the game at Chants of Turks with knives and Galatasary.. as I asked the lads why was it said that Dad was cut in the throat with a blade and hit by a full box….

Leeds are often subject to chants of tragedy referencing two supporters who were stabbed to death in Istanbul in 2000 before their UEFA Cup semi-final against Galatasaray.

Daniel Farke’s side went into Sunday’s match full of confidence after making it the double against the Canaries this season on their way to missing out on automatic promotion on the final day.

But at the home of his former club, the German watched as his side were held to a goalless draw.

In an ultimately tentative encounter, the visitors looked to have broken the deadlock after half an hour when Junior Firpo had the ball in the net.

However, the future Dominican opener was controversially sent off for offside against Georgino Rutter.

Speaking after the game, the Leeds boss insisted the decision not to award the goal was an incorrect one.

“I’m still annoyed about the offside,” Farke said normally afterwards. “I recommend everyone to look at the stream of researchers with the right line. It was definitely not offside.

“Everyone is talking about the play-offs being worth £100m or more. At this level, decisions must be correct. I expect to be up to par, the officials have to be the same if they want to be in charge of a game like this.’

With neither side able to seize the initiative, Thursday’s second leg at Elland Road will determine a place in the play-off final at Wembley later this month.
