Burglar behind £400 theft, including curtains, after hitting six shops in Nuneaton

A thief has been caught with a haul of £400 after targeting shops in Nuneaton town centre. Daniel Jones, of no fixed abode, was behind a mini crime spree between June 1 and June 20.

But the 28-year-old was caught and arrested last week and charged with six counts of shoplifting. He appeared at Coventry Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to all the thefts.

He was heard to have stolen items including coffee, alcohol, curtains, hair straighteners, toothbrushes and laundry detergent. Their value exceeded £400.

He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison for shoplifting. Speaking after the case, PC Scott Roddy said: “The drive is not a victimless crime, it has an impact on businesses and the wider community. This result shows how strong we will be in tracking down criminals and bringing them to justice.”
