Sheffield United want a double deal on Ricky-Jade Jones and Harrison Burrows

Sheffield United are also keen to do a deal for Ricky-Jade Jones alongside Peterborough United star Harrison Burrows, according to Will Unwin.

Sheffield United are heading for the Championship after a disastrous season in the Premier League and a huge task lies ahead of manager Chris Wilder.

The boss is set to lead a significant rebuild of the playing squad at Bramall Lane. However, uncertainty over ongoing takeover talks is hampering their mobility in the transfer market at this early stage.

However, there have been rumors of a move for Peterborough United star Harrison Burrows. The 22-year-old is set for a big move this summer after a stellar campaign in League One.

Now, however, new claims have emerged which say Sheffield United could be doing a double whammy.

Writing in X, reporter Will Unwin claims the Blades are also keen to sign Posh striker Ricky-Jade Jones. The Championship club are keen on a package for the duo and “could be linked soon”.

Jones, 21, is under contract until the summer of 2025, as is fellow academy graduate Burrows.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

Jones joins Burrows on the Blades radar

As Sheffield United prepare for their Championship campaign, it seems they see Peterborough United as a great club to raid for some much-needed new signings.

As we’ve touched on before, Burrows is someone destined to step up after a stunning season at left-back. He scored 12 goals and provided 18 assists as Posh reached the play-offs and lifted the EFL Trophy, leading the team in the second half of the campaign.

Jones, 21, may not have hit those numbers, but he remains a player with a bright future who could prove to be a real problem.

He managed 12 goals and five assists in all competitions, operating as a winger or striker. The electric pace he possesses will make Jones a handful at any level, and after making some notable strides forward last season, a move to Sheffield United could see him find a new level.

A huge rebuild

If he hadn’t already, the scale of the task ahead at Sheffield United would have set in by now.

Wilder was left with a depleted squad following relegation from the Premier League, with loanees returning to their parent clubs and out-of-contract individuals heading for pastures new.

It means a huge summer transfer window ahead for the Blades. Additions are needed almost everywhere on the pitch, so the long-running takeover saga they’ve been involved in needs to end sooner rather than later.

Then Sheffield United can make real inroads in the transfer market and a double deal for stars Posh Jones and Burrows could be given the green light.
