Young man seriously injured in crash following police chase in Calne

A young man has been seriously injured in a crash following a police pursuit near Calne.

A pursuit was authorized after a vehicle failed to stop for officers this morning (Tuesday).

At around 10.25am, the vehicle was involved in a road traffic collision in Chapel Street, Derry Hill.

The youth, said to be in his late teens, was arrested for failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving without a license or insurance and taking without consent.

He was taken to hospital after suffering a suspected leg injury in the collision, which is not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.

Wiltshire Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and have made a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), as is mandatory following a serious injury involving the police.
