Sheffield United man on club’s option list – Wants out after just six months

Spanish side Leganés have Sheffield United goalkeeper Ivan Grbic on their shortlist this summer as they look to return to Spain.

So say AS, who say that Leganés have known for a week that there is a possibility of taking the former Atletico Madrid man.

The paper explains that Grbic is one of the names Leganés have on their list as they look to strengthen in the goalkeeping department this summer.

That club faces the possibility of two holes to fill the job this summer, with Diego Conde potentially following Villarreal and Juan Soriano leaving for Tenerife.

As such, they are scouring the market for replacements and the Sheffield United man is one of the options on their list.

He has only been with Sheffield United since joining them in the January transfer window from Atletico Madrid, where he had been number two to Jan Oblak.

However, his “prospects there are confused”, according to AS, and he wants to return to Spain if he has the chance. Therefore, Leganés sees it as a potential market opportunity.

Grbic wants to return to La Liga as he has had a “six months of misery” at Sheffield United so far, which culminated in him missing out on his dream Euro 2024.

Croatia’s disappointing tour of Germany could lead to changes though, so Grbic wants to make sure he is at a new club and playing regularly so he can resume his international career.

Leganés could be the ideal location, although they have other options on their roster and are yet to make a serious move for him. Grbic’s desire to return to Spain could change this position, however.
