Sheffield United are interested in the League One Double Swoop

Sheffield United are keen to beat Hull City to the signing of Harrison Burrows but also have another Peterborough United player in their sights, according to reports.

The Blades are looking to strengthen their first-team squad this summer despite being cash-strapped due to ongoing takeover talks. Chris Wilder’s squad has already been weakened in the past two weeks, with the likes of Wes Foderingham, John Egan, Max Lowe, George Baldock, Chris Basham, Ben Osborn, Oli McBurnie and Oliver Norwood leaving the club, among others, while the former Offers of The loans of Blackburn Rovers man Ben Brereton Diaz and Yasser Larouci have expired.

Heading into the 2024/25 campaign, Wilder’s side were stripped to the bone while other Premier League promotion contenders improved around them. As a result, a Supercomputer predicted the South Yorkshire side would finish 17th next season after simulating every match for all 24 clubs 1,000 times.

However, Sheffield United still have a list of targets they want to try and sign before the transfer window closes. According to a report from The Guardian’s Will Unwin, the recently relegated side are hoping to attack Peterborough’s side by acquiring both Burrows and Ricky-Jade Jones in a package deal. Unwin said a deal “could be done soon”.

Sheffield United and Coventry City have been given a boost in their transfer pursuit

Burrows has recently become a target for fellow Yorkshire town side Hull City in recent weeks. It has been revealed that the Tigers have agreed a fee with Posh for their captain, but nothing has been finalized so far.

The writer’s vision

It’s no wonder Sheffield United are keen to sign a full-back and a striker this summer after losing a flurry of players in recent days. Burrows was the best left-back in League One last season, registering 23 assists for Peterborough, while Jones registered 16 assists in all competitions.

Now, it looks like a deal for the duo will come to fruition very soon, although it will certainly be interesting to see how much the Blades are forced to cough up given their current financial situation.
