Leeds United completed the signing of Joe Rodon from Tottenham this week, while Archie Gray is heading in the opposite direction and they have reportedly helped Brentford to the signing.

Following their failure to secure promotion back to the Premier League, the 49ers have been under pressure to cash in on some of their star players and Archie Gray is the first to depart.

Last weekend brought damning updates that left Leeds powerless to stop the teenager’s exit as several Premier League clubs chased his signature.

Brentford rejected for Archie Gray deal, instead he joins Tottenham for £40m

Brentford were the first club to appear to be closing in on a deal to sign Gray at the end of June, submitting a £40m bid and seemingly agreeing a deal with the player.

After passing his medical, Leeds rejected the offer on Sunday morning due to issues with the payment structure, opening the door to Tottenham.

A move has since been touted by the north London club and was confirmed this morning on a six-year deal.

Are you happy that Red Bull have invested in Leeds?

Brentford missed both Rodon and Gray – Graham Smyth

Leeds managed to bring in Joe Rodon on a permanent deal as part of talks to see Gray head to Spurs, joining in a separate deal for £10m.

As much as Rodon has been used to see Gray head to Tottenham, the Welshman has had Premier League interest in him as YEP’s Graham Smyth reveals Brentford have been one of his potential suitors:

Brentford will not be happy with Leeds’ transfer developments

First, they appeared to have an almighty coup on their hands by signing Gray, coming so close to bringing him to Thomas Frank’s squad.

Then, if that had come to pass, our chances of signing Rodon would have been reduced to nil, given that he has become part of the Grey’s deal for all intents and purposes.

Now, they have missed two targets, which would surely amuse Leeds fans given how Bees fans were at the end when they thought they had Gray.
