Driver seriously injured in horror crash as 100m cordon closes Sheffield road

A driver has been rushed to hospital with “serious injuries” following a car crash in Sheffield which closed a major road.

South Yorkshire Police were called to the scene alongside Yorkshire Ambulance Service and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service in Attercliffe Road at 3.43pm today. The crash involved a white Volkswagen Jetta and a white Ford Transit Van.




The driver of the Volkswagen was taken to hospital with “serious injuries” and is receiving treatment.

In addition, emergency services remained at the scene and a 100m stretch of road, just past the Church Lane junction to the Bodmin Street junction, remains closed.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to reports of an RTC on Attercliffe Road today (July 2) at 3.43pm. Officers, the Ambulance Service and the Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene.

“A silver Volkswagen Jetta and a Ford Transit Van have collided and emergency services are at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen is being taken to hospital to be treated for what are believed to be serious injuries.
