The Carpenters Experience brings much-loved hits to Coventry

The Carpenters Experience brings much-loved hits to Coventry this autumn. The UK’s premier tribute to the iconic duo, The Carpenters Experience, will take to the auditorium stage at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday 19 October.

Their appearance follows a string of sold-out shows across the country. Featuring the vocals of Maggie Nestor and eight world-class musicians, the show captures the essence of the Carpenters, bringing the sounds of Richard and Karen Carpenter back to the live stage.

The show is now in its seventh year and stars Maggie as Karen and Coventry’s Jason Forrester as Richard. With a full live band including brass and piano, the pair provide perfect harmonies to recreate the experience fans would have had seeing The Carpenters live in the 1970s.

Fans can expect to hear songs such as Close To You, We’ve Only Just Begun, Top of the World, Rainy Days and Mondays, Solitaire, Goodbye to Love, Please Mr Postman, For All We Know, Only Yesterday and many more classics. During their 15-year career, the Carpenters recorded 15 albums and the duo sold over 100 million records worldwide.

It is the first time the show has come to Coventry and is part of the ongoing expansion of the live entertainment offering in the auditorium at the Coventry Building Society Arena. Mick Mason, who founded the tribute act in 2015, said it was exciting to bring the show to Coventry after seven years.

“We’re really looking forward to the show at the Coventry Building Society Arena in October and getting the chance to celebrate the Carpenters with the people of Coventry,” said Mick.

“It’s an immersive show that will take fans back to the heights of Richard and Karen Carpenter’s careers. These songs are 50 years old now, but they are timeless and still resonate with people around the world.

“There are six costume changes, a live band and the incredibly talented Maggie Nestor, who is one of the few people who can come close to Karen’s silky contralto. We get the crowd involved in every song and encourage them to sing along, it’s a celebration of the Carpenters that really makes it feel like Yesterday Once More.”

Jenni Ford, sales and marketing director at Coventry Building Society Arena, said: “This is a must-see show for Carpenters fans and we’re expecting a full house on the night.”

Doors will open at 6.30pm on Saturday 19 October. Tickets cost £28.50 plus booking fees and are available now from www.eticketing.co.uk/cbsarena.
