Wayne Rooney has been spotted in Plymouth ahead of starting his new role as head coach at Argyle.

Seco Lounge posted a picture of him at their quiz on Monday night, along with their quizmaster Chun.

The café bar, based in Royal William Yard, shared their excitement on social media: ‘It’s only Wayne Roooneeey crashing our Monday night quiz!!

“He can’t escape the leg madness even for our quizmaster Chun!”

Rooney was announced as the Pilgrims’ new head coach in May.

It comes before Argyle begin their pre-season training in preparation for the 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship season.

From July 7-16, Argyle will head to Marbella for a training camp and the Pilgrims host South African side Orlando Pirates at the Banús Football Center on the 12th.

Due to works being carried out on the Home Park playing surface and surrounds, there will be no pre-season friendlies.

They will travel to face Cheltenham Town on July 20, Torquay United on July 27, Bristol Rovers on July 30 and Milton Keynes Dons on August 3 – before the Championship season kicks off on the weekend of August 9-11.

Rooney will be supported in his role by assistant manager Pete Shuttleworth, first team coaches Kevin Nancekivell and Simon Ireland and goalkeeping coach Darryl Flahavan.
