Some UK households receive four cost of living vouchers worth £75 each in June and July

A UK council is handing out four sets of vouchers to households in one part of the UK in a major cost of living increase. UK households are struggling to stay afloat amid tough financial times across the country.

But there is respite coming in the form of a series of £75 voucher issues, it has emerged. Four new sets of vouchers will be handed out to UK households in Wakefield as part of the Household Support Fund, giving households a key boost.

Vouchers will be handed out to households on these dates to help people shop after the government renewed the scheme. The local authority said: “The government has provided additional funding, known as the Household Support Fund, to help with essentials such as gas, electricity and food between April 2024 and September 2024.”

Supermarket vouchers will be issued to households benefiting from the Council’s Fiscal Support. £75 will be released to pensioners, disabled residents, all other households in receipt of Council Tax support EXCEPT families and families with at least one child.

Each voucher is worth £75. The OAP payment will be made between 3 June 2024 and 12 June 2024. The payment for disabled people is between 17 June 2024 and 26 June 2024. All other households receiving Council Tax Support EXCEPT families receive their payment on the 28 June.

Families with one child receive a voucher on 18 July 2024. The council says: “Eligible households do not need to apply for these vouchers. They will be issued automatically. Please allow up to 7 days for your voucher to arrive.

“Full instructions on how to redeem the voucher will be included in the letter. Once the voucher has been redeemed, it should not be spent all at once. It can be used multiple times until the entire amount has been spent.

“Please note that receiving these vouchers will not affect your entitlement to other benefits you may receive.”
