Police issue update after man arrested on easyJet plane at Manchester Airport for ‘assault’

A man who was arrested over an “assault on an easyJet plane at Manchester Airport has been released on bail”, police have confirmed.

Officers boarded the flight from Paris as it was on the runway at Manchester at around 7.35pm on Tuesday (April 16). The cabin crew had alerted them to a “disruptive passenger”.

A man was seen being led away before other passengers could disembark. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that a 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

In an update this morning, a GMP spokesman confirmed he has since been released on bail. After the incident on Tuesday, an easyJet spokesman said: “We can confirm that flight EJU4645 from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Manchester was met by police on arrival due to a passenger who was behaving in a disruptive manner on board.

“easyJet cabin crew are trained to assess and assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time. Although such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate them. abusive or threatening behavior on board.

“The safety and well-being of passengers and crew is always easyJet’s priority.”
