Amad issues Manchester United injury update after being replaced by Arsenal

Manchester United midfielder Amad has insisted he is fine after being forced off with an injury against Arsenal on Sunday.

The 21-year-old made his first Premier League start of the season at Old Trafford this evening as Erik ten Hag looked for a reaction from his depleted squad. Amad did his best to force a tackle and felt he should have been awarded a penalty with ten minutes left in the half when he was caught by Thomas Partey in the area.

Referee Paul Tierney waved away the appeals, but that didn’t stop Amad from showing his pace on the right. Unfortunately, his appearance was cut short when he was forced off with an injury in the 70th minute.

As he hobbled off the pitch, it was clear Amad was raring to go and he received a standing ovation from the home supporters in recognition of his efforts. Taking to Instagram after the match, Amad has now confirmed that the injury that forced him to be replaced by Antony is not as serious as feared.

He wrote: “The knee to the knee in the first half bothered me in the second half. I’m fine otherwise.”

Amad was one of the standout players in what was ultimately another disappointing afternoon for United. Leandro Trossard’s long-range strike on 20 minutes was enough to secure three big points for the Gunners.
