Leeds United reject £30m bid for Brighton Rutter

Leeds United have rejected a bid from Brighton and Hove Albion for Georginio Rutter, according to TBR Football.

Leeds United are in the middle of several big transfer stories at the moment.

This is no surprise, many expect them to be busy this summer after their failed bid for promotion last season.

Daniel Farke’s side lost at Wembley in the play-off final and will have to go again next season in search of a return to the Premier League.

Rutter, 22, played 48 Championship games for Leeds United last season, including three play-off appearances. He scored seven and assisted 15 for the Whites.

He didn’t play much for the Whites in the Premier League, but before joining the club he showed his ability to contribute in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim.

However, this summer he is a wanted man. Brighton are the main club currently in the running and the Seagulls recently made a £30m bid for the Frenchman but this was rejected. The report also states that Brighton have held talks over Glen Kamara, Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto in recent weeks.

Who is this?

THE QUIZ STARTS!

A great fight

Leeds United can afford to lose a few key players from last season, but losing more than a few would make it very difficult for Farke to restore balance to his side.

The Whites could certainly promote this season, but that’s considering they are keeping most of their key players this summer.

It is a positive sign that they did not accept Brighton’s offer. It shows that the club will not lose any player easily.

The recent sale of star prospect Archie Gray may also make it a bit easier for them to keep the likes of Rutter this summer.

There is no room for error

Leeds United were out of the table long before their last promotion. Hopefully their wait for the next one won’t be any longer than it needs to be.

Farke is a safe pair of hands for the job, but if his side doesn’t get off to a good start, he’s likely to find himself under a lot of pressure early on.

However, their fate will likely depend on who stays and there is still a long way to go in this transfer window, and with the interest in their players, it won’t be easy for the Whites.
