Arsenal want to sell a Sheffield Wednesday-linked player even more this summer

Sheffield Wednesday have just completed their sixth signing of the summer transfer window.

Striker Olaf Kobacki joins on a permanent deal from Polish second-tier side Arka, with whom he scored 15 league goals last season.

Kobacki is the sixth name to join Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday this summer, joining Ben Hamer, Max Lowe, Yan Valery, Svante Ingelsson and Jamal Lowe.

The Owls are turning heads during this summer’s transfer window and are showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer market.

Young duo Charlie McNeill and James Beadle have now been invited to join the club on a permanent and loan deal respectively.

There are also plenty of other names linked to summer moves to the S6 which not appear to be just as close to joining the club, with one such name being Mika Biereth.

Sheffield Wednesday wanted to sign Biereth in January but he joined Austrian side Sturm Graz on loan.

Arsenal are eyeing the permanent sale of Sheffield Wednesday target Mika Biereth

After joining Sturm Graz on loan, 21-year-old Dane Biereth scored five goals in 15 outings in the Austrian Bundesliga as Graz won the league title.

Since then, both Sturm Graz and Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with summer moves for the Arsenal forward.

Reports have emerged suggesting that Sturm Graz were planning another loan deal for the forward, but Graz sporting director Andreas Schicker played down the rumours.

Speaking to Kronen Zeitburg, Schicker said: “Mika is in the last year of his contract, the club wants to sell him.”

Previous reports suggested Arsenal could demand a fee of up to £6m for Biereth, who is out of contract in 2025.

Price tag aside, Mika Biereth at Sheffield Wednesday is unlikely for another reason

Sheffield Wednesday spending up to £6m on Biereth, especially when he is out of contract in a year, seems highly unlikely.

He is clearly someone Rohl and head of recruitment Kevin Beadell like, but the price tag alone is enough to put Sheffield Wednesday out of a deal for the Arsenal man.

That and the fact that Sheffield Wednesday have just signed Kobacki and that McNeill is expected to join as well; on top of that, Josh Windass has signed a new contract.

Suddenly, Sheffield Wednesday seem to have a fairly well-stocked attacking department and how many more names would Rohl like to add to the no. 9 remains to be seen.

Either way, it seems that Biereth remains a very hopeful and unlikely potential transfer for Sheffield Wednesday.

But fans are still being treated to plenty of exciting new signings this summer.
