Sheffield Wednesday fans are saying the same about Dejphon Chansiri as the transfers roll around

Sheffield Wednesday fans have shared their final thoughts on controversial owner Dejphon Chansiri amid an influx of summer signings.

Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has been a controversial figure in recent years.

His poor management of the club and apparent determination to control many footballing matters made him a highly disliked figure among Sheffield Wednesday supporters.

The division between the fans and Chansiri reached an all-time high last season following the nightmare tenure of Xisco Munoz and several outlandish club statements from Chansiri, mostly aimed at supporters who disagreed with his methods.

Tension grew and a section of fans formed The 1867 Group, which is a protest group aimed at removing Chansiri from Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday fans all say the same about Dejphon Chansiri

Sheffield Wednesday announced their sixth summer signing on Wednesday morning, bringing in striker Olaf Kobacki from Polish outfit Arka.

Sheffield Wednesday have made the most signings of any Championship side so far this summer and fans are praising Chansiri for the club’s summer; the new contract for Rohl, improvements to the club’s training facilities and now these new signings.

One fan wrote on X: “Very critical of DC, but no one can argue with what they’ve done in the last 6 months,” while another added: “For the first time in DC’s reign, it looks like we’re buying players to fit into a style. of the game and a system.”

Elsewhere, a Sheffield Wednesday fan posted: “I have to say Mr Chansiri deserves credit for supporting Danny and the team. It feels different and exciting.”

“I would say Chansiri is doing absolutely everything right at this point. Even the social side of things has improved,” one fan added, while another posted: “I finally feel like we’re a club with a plan.

“It’s everything we’ve ever wanted. Feeling like the club we all love is heading in the right direction (prices aside) credit where credit is due. Mr. Chansiri deserves a lot of praise.”

The tide is turning for Dejphon Chansiri at Sheffield Wednesday

Being very skeptical; In Chansiri’s nine-year reign at Sheffield Wednesday, he achieved nothing.

Yes, Chansiri has spent well in the past and has come as close to the Premier League without actually winning the promotion.

But it could be argued that Sheffield Wednesday now, or at least before this summer’s transfer window opened, were further away from their long-term goal than they were when Chansiri took over in 2015.

As many Sheffield Wednesday fans point out on social media; The Owls’ signs this summer suggest they are finally putting together a squad that can grow in value and ultimately fetch Sheffield Wednesday some big transfer fees.

This, for Championship teams, is absolutely essential to do and something that Sheffield Wednesday have not done enough of in recent years.

On top of that, Sheffield Wednesday are offering players like Kobacki long-term deals, protecting themselves from situations like the one with Di’Shon Bernard right now; where they sign a good player but see his contract run out.

Rohl is to be commended for instilling this new philosophy and setting a blueprint for a more sustainable and exciting future. Then, of course, credit must go to Chansiri for facilitating everything.
