Tragedy where lorry crash in Rotherham claimed the life of a motorcyclist

A 33-year-old motorcyclist has sadly died after being involved in a crash in Rotherham.

South Yorkshire Police were called to Hoober Lane at 9.30am on Tuesday (July 2) after receiving reports of a collision between a white Volvo HGV and a black Honda Fireblade motorcycle.




Emergency services, including the air ambulance service, also attended. Despite the efforts of the doctors, the driver of the motorcycle, a 33-year-old man, unfortunately died on the spot. His family is currently being supported by police, police say.

The truck driver remained at the scene and assisted police with their enquiries. Hoober Lane was closed for a time while emergency services attended, but has since reopened.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who was in the area and has dash cam footage which could assist officers in their investigation to come forward.
