Armed police called to Piccadilly Gardens following reports of ‘dangerous dog’

Armed police were called to Piccadilly Gardens on Wednesday afternoon (July 3) following reports of a dangerous dog.

Officers were seen in attendance in the city center at around 3.55pm, while a police van along with armed officers were pictured at the scene responding to the incident.




Onlookers watched as a TAU van arrived with blue lights. A man, aged in his 20s, was later arrested on suspicion of having a dangerous dog out of control and breaching police bail.

A witness at the scene told the Manchester Evening News: “I was talking to security at McDonald’s and the next thing this police van turned on its blue lights and the cops jumped out.

“Armed police turned up and there was an argument between the person and the dog which the police were trying to break up. There were many people gathered around.”
