Paradox Orchestra Return to the Cathedral — Sheffield Cathedral

Paradox Orchestra, the classically trained musicians known for their electrifying adaptations of iconic pop, club and rock hits, return to the cathedral on Thursday 12 July, this time to perform the hits of Fleetwood Mac.

Timeless hits by rock legends, reimagined for a live orchestra, will fill the cathedral’s ancient amphitheater with its natural acoustics for a rocking experience.

Hits like Dream, Go Your Own Way, Sara and Gold Dust Women will gain new resonance in the cathedral. The concert follows Paradox Orchestra’s previous visit to the cathedral to celebrate 50 years of Pink Floyd, which raised £1000 for the charity The Cathedral Archer Project, as well as helping to raise awareness of homelessness in Sheffield.

Paradox Orchestra Artistic Director Mikey Sluman said: “We are delighted to return and develop our partnership with this magnificent cathedral. Performing in such an iconic building, a place that has witnessed the emotional and spiritual life of people throughout the centuries, adds a real emotional charge to the concert experience.”

The orchestra is currently on a summer tour of Yorkshire and has played packed concerts, often in accessible but beautiful churches, cathedrals and cathedrals in the heart of Yorkshire’s communities.

Musicians aim to break down barriers for audiences while supporting the communities in which they perform. With renditions of RnB songs, iconic rock tracks and pop classics, Paradox Orchestra has performed with some of pop’s biggest acts including Ed Sheeran, Marc Almond, Little Mix and Craig David.

Mikey added: “Music can be incredibly powerful when it comes to bringing people together. We want to make sure the art form is accessible to everyone and remind the public that we have a common humanity. We promise a soulful, enriching, uplifting, fun and inclusive experience.”

Ben Rossi, Development Manager at Sheffield Cathedral, said: “We are delighted to welcome back the Paradox Orchestra, not only because they fill the cathedral with beautiful orchestral sounds, but also for their commitment to community, education and supporting the less fortunate through the joy of music. Their latest concert gave the Cathedral Archer Project a huge boost on many levels, not just financially but also helping to raise awareness of the charity’s work and its life-changing support for vulnerable people in our community and the public local homeless. “

Paradox Orchestra also run ‘Inspire’ events alongside their concerts where local schools and charities can take part in a free, interactive and educational performance.

Mikey said: “We had an incredible audience response last time we played here so we can’t wait to come back. Whether you are a die-hard Fleetwood Mac fan or simply appreciate the sublime sounds of orchestral music, this concert promises to be an uplifting evening. Please come and be a part of it and support an important local cause at the same time.”
