The open water swimming spot right under giant skyscrapers and next to a London Underground station

Londoners will be able to swim right under some of the city’s tallest skyscrapers as open water swim sessions return to Canary Wharf for the summer. The Swims will take place in Canary Wharf’s Middle Dock from now until the end of October.

The sessions return following the success of last year’s program which brought open water swimming to the area for the first time. The waters at Middle Dock come from spring water deep beneath the town, which is regularly tested by Love Open Water, who run the sessions.

Swimmers of all abilities over the age of 10 will be able to participate on Monday and Thursday evenings, Friday mornings or Saturday afternoons. The dock is located very close to Canary Wharf tube station and has DLR trains running over it.

The open water swim sessions are part of a series of new summer events taking place in Canary Wharf, which include an outdoor film club, musical performances, mini-golf and arts events. Viewers can expect to see family favorites such as Barbie and Shrek, as well as screenings of major sporting events such as Wimbledon, the Olympics and Paralympics.

Swimmers can expect to pay £9 per swim and must purchase a £15 membership to NOWCA, the UK’s largest network of open water safe places. For more information, visit the Canary Wharf Group website.
