Liverpool transfer news as Adrien Rabiot ‘ready’ to move amid Leny Yoro ‘contact’

Liverpool fans are still waiting for news of some transfer business this summer as the Arne Slot era begins in earnest this week.

The Reds’ new head coach will meet some of his new squad this week as players begin returning to the AXA Training Center for the start of pre-season. Supporters will be hoping to see some new faces join them soon.

There has been no shortage of names linked with a move to Anfield, and Anthony Gordon’s failed talks have shown that work is being done behind the scenes. For now, though, it remains to be seen who will be the first newcomer through the door.

Here’s Liverpool.com’s verdict on the transfer gossip swirling around the Reds today, including the annual Adrien Rabiot speculation as well as an update on Leny Yoro.

Adrien Rabiot (Juventus)

Liverpool have already made moves to try and sign Adrien Rabiot this summer, according to Calciomercato. Not only that, but the Reds are said to be ‘ready to break the bank’ to sign the France international.

However, Newcastle are also said to be in the running, while AC Milan have reportedly made contact with the 29-year-old. Rabiot looks set to be without a club this summer, with his contract expiring at Juventus.

Liverpool.com says: The transfer window is open so of course we have to have Rabiot linked with Liverpool. It just wouldn’t be the same without him.

As with every time he’s been linked with Anfield, a move almost certainly won’t happen. At 29, he’s simply not the type of player the Reds should be targeting, and they certainly shouldn’t be ‘burning the bench’ for him, which is pretty hard to do for a player who it moves for free.

Leny Yoro (Lille)

Liverpool have made contact with Lille as the Reds refuse to give up their pursuit of Leny Yoro, journalist Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport. The teenager appears to be waiting for a move to Real Madrid, with earlier reports this summer suggesting that Liverpool and other clubs are resigned to a move to the Bernabeu.

However, the Reds are said to be “serious” about Yoro and won’t be waving the white flag anytime soon. Madrid, however, remains his most likely destination.

Liverpool.com says: You can see why clubs revolve around Yoro. It’s not often that a teenager establishes himself as a centre-back in one of Europe’s top leagues, so he certainly looks to be a generational talent.

At some point, though, Liverpool will just have to admit defeat. They know all too well what generally happens when Real Madrid are involved and it certainly looks like Yoro is happy to wait for Los Blancos, even if it is next year.
