What time will the Solihull general election result be declared?

Solihull voters will head to the polls on Thursday to choose who will be their next representative in parliament. Voting will take place at polling stations across the borough on Thursday (July 4) at 7am.

Following the boundary changes, Solihull voters will choose their MPs for three constituencies – Solihull West and Shirley; Meriden and Solihull East and Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North. Counting for Solihull West and Shirley and Meriden and Solihull East constituencies will take place at North Solihull Sports Center in Chelmsley Wood after polls close at 10pm.

No results are expected before midnight, with the estimated time of declaration to be around 2.30 and 3.00. But factors such as low or high voter turnout or the need for recounts could impact when the results are finally declared.

Meanwhile, the Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North result is part of the Birmingham results count taking place at the International Convention Center (ICC) in Centenary Square. Birmingham City Council said the count would start at around 11pm.

A first result there could come around 1 am, but earlier election counts had trained-eyed candidates waiting until 6 am. Voters are reminded that, for the first time ever for a general election, they will need to show photo ID at polling stations when they turn up to vote.
