Jöro couple unveil ‘next chapter’ for iconic Sheffield restaurant

First announced at the beginning of this year, the move is considered a “significant milestone” for Jöro, which fuses elements of Nordic and Japanese cuisine and has until now been housed in a shipping container in Krynkl on Kelham Island.

The restaurant relocation will be part of a larger dining destination developed by the couple, which will also include two bar areas and an outdoor grill kitchen concept located on the terrace.

“We are incredibly excited about this new chapter for Jöro,” says French.

“We have been looking for a new home for some time that would allow us to really push the whole experience to the next level.

“We really wanted to make sure we enhanced the features everyone knows and loves on our tasting menus, but with more room for the team and additional areas for our guests to enjoy the experience.

“Having the concept separate from the terrace and bars allows us the space to alleviate the pressure of the rotating tables, as well as bring new concepts to Oughtibridge.”

Working in partnership with Big Green Egg, the new terrace menu will be prepared using live fire cooking techniques and will include grilled Scottish Scots; salt-aged Yorkshire beef rump cap; and whole teriyaki quail.

The site will also offer five studios and two one-bedroom apartments, giving guests the chance to stay for a night of gastronomy or a weekend.

Designed by the couple, the rooms will be Scandinavian-inspired with views of the Peak District border and will include a kitchen, en-suite bathroom and homemade continental breakfast delivered to the room.
