The Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association recently honored its top student-athletes for each high school. Cornwall selected Samantha Miller and Oliver Jang.

Here are their profiles:

Samantha Miller

GPA: 101.06

Varsity Sports: Volley-ball; Indoor and outdoor athletics

Academic Honors/Extracurricular Activities: National Honor Society President; Class Treasurer; Morgan’s Message; Best friends; HOSA; Safe School Ambassadors; The high honor roll

Athletic Honors: Three varsity volleyball letters; Indoor and outdoor track varsity letters

Community Service: Co-founding member of The Cornwall Cleanup Crew

Future plans: University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Biochemistry and minoring in Spanish in the Pre-Med track

Oliver Jang

GPA: 100.15

Varsity Sports: Cross country; Indoor and outdoor athletics

Academic Honors/Extracurricular Activities: Eagle Scout; High honor roll and director’s mention; AP Chemistry and Introductory Calculus Excellence Awards; Principal’s Award for Consistency and Enthusiasm (kindergarten); Member of National Honor Society Bulletin Board Committee and Service Committee; Senior Leader of the Student Athlete Leadership Council; Vice President and Captain of the Math Team; All Section DUSO Math League; NYSML meet qualifier and DUSO representative; Concert Band and Jazz Band Treasurer; NYSSMA Level VI Solo Piano Score 95 — 4 times International Piano Guild Performances, 1 time National Piano Guild Performances, 2 times State Piano Guild Performance, 1 time performance of the local piano guild; Second in the Cornwall Lions Club Peace Poster Competition

Athletic Honors: Boys Cross Country Most Valuable Player; 25th at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Cross Country Championships, 165th in the NYS Federation; 10th at NYSPHSAA Cross Country Championships, 59th at NYS Federation; fifth at NYS Section IX Cross Country Championships; second at NYS Section IX Cross Country Championships; NYSPHSAA athlete; Team Captain for Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track and Field; Varsity letters; multiple Top-10 all-time scholastic performances in Cross Country

Community Service: 200 hours of community service; volunteered at local food bank, Cornwall Cleanup Crew and town events; The Eagle Scout Project was designing and building a trail at Black Rock Forest

Future plans: SUNY Stony Brook, majoring in Physics and hope to participate in Cross Country and Track
