Erik ten Hag is extending his stay at Manchester United on a new two-year contract

Erik ten Hag is extending his stay at Manchester United on a new two-year deal

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2026.

Despite leading the Red Devils to FA Cup glory last time out, the Ten Hag’s future was in huge doubt after an eighth-place finish in the league and a disastrous Champions League campaign.

United’s new owners INEOS carried out an extensive end-of-season review and decided to keep faith with the Dutch manager, who has now put pen to paper on a new two-year deal.

“I am very pleased to have reached an agreement with the club to continue working together,” Ten Hag told United’s official website.

“Looking back at the last two years, we can proudly reflect on two trophies and many examples of progress from where I was when I joined.

“However, we must be clear that there is still a lot of hard work ahead to reach the levels expected of Manchester United, which means challenging for the English and European titles.”

As the Ten Hag prepares for his third year in charge, the 51-year-old is set to welcome new members to his coaching staff, with Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake expected to complete the move to Old Trafford imminently.

Ten Hag and United will begin their pre-season tour with friendlies against Rosenborg and Rangers on July 15 and 20 respectively, before heading to the US to face Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool.

A first shot at silverware in the 2024-25 campaign then follows on August 10 when Man United take on Manchester City in the Community Shield.
