The family’s thanks and plea after the young man dies in the sidecar of a motorcycle

The family of a man who died in a crash involving a sidecar motorcycle have thanked the racing community for their support following his death. A 24-year-old man from Cornwall has died in a crash during a racing competition at the weekend.

The accident happened on a track off Digdog Lane in Frittenden, near Cranbrook, Kent, at 6.10pm on Sunday (June 30). The Auto Cycle Union (ACU) has said a race competitor has died at a GTSA Grasstrack motorcycle racing event.

The 24-year-old man suffered fatal injuries in the racetrack crash, which police said involved two motorcycle-sidecar combination vehicles, and officers are now appealing for information from witnesses. It is that the family of the deceased made a specific request to anyone who witnessed the incident.

An ACU spokesman said: “There is an ongoing investigation into the circumstances and the family have requested that no footage or images of the accident be posted on social media or sent directly to them.

“They thank the Grasstrack community for their support and ask that they be provided with anonymity and confidentiality. The ACU and GTSA Club Committee extend their sincere condolences to the family at this difficult time.”
