Liverpool’s final position has been confirmed amid implications for Premier League prize money

Liverpool finished third in the 2023/24 Premier League season. With two games remaining in the Jürgen Klopp era, his final league position has been confirmed.

Manchester City mathematically ensured that Liverpool could not win the title when they beat Fulham 4-0 yesterday. And Arsenal put second place within reach of the Reds with a narrow win over Manchester United.

The third play for fourth tomorrow night when Liverpool take on Aston Villa. But despite a shaky finish to the campaign, Klopp’s men have been spared challenges from below for several weeks.

When it comes to what has long been considered the title race, Liverpool are eight points behind Arsenal and seven behind Manchester City. With two games left to play, he can only score a maximum of six points.

The third-place finish is an improvement on last season, when Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League places for the first time since Klopp initially secured qualification ahead of the 2017/18 season. The team he called “Liverpool 2.0” showed a lot of promise, even winning the Carabao Cup.

But a second Premier League title and perfect farewell proved too far. Arne Slot is now set to be the one tasked with turning this ball of potential into a challenger who can go the distance.
