YNW Melly Awaits Murder Retrial As His Lawyer Attacks Florida Prosecutors

YNW Melly’s double-murder trial has been one of hip-hop’s biggest stories of the past year, and it’s far from over yet. Moreover, he is still awaiting a new trial, but a new Instagram post by his lawyer Bradford Cohen indicates a heated battle between prosecutors and the defense. Specifically, Cohen was responding to an appeals court that upheld a judge’s blocking of prosecutors questioning a state attorney if she becomes a witness in the retrial. In his message, the lawyer unleashed his opposition from the Broward County, Florida State Attorney’s office and made it clear that he is very unhappy with the way this whole situation has played out.

“Essentially, the Broward State Attorney’s Office blew this case,” YNW’s attorney Melly expressed on social media. “I’ve never seen anything like it. They literally refused to take this case to an unconflicted state attorneys office after the defense listed one of their own state attorneys as a witness. They wanted to be able to question the state attorney, that’s what it meant. to a whistleblower and confessed that a police officer lied.

YNW Melly’s lawyer speaks out

“The lower court ruled that the Broward State Atty’s Office cannot question one of them,” continued YNW Melly’s attorney. “That means if they stay on the case, there will be no cross-examination of the prosecutor who testified that the lead detective lied about serving a subpoena. The appeals court just agreed with the lower court. A real circus in this case and mistreated from the first day I was on the case. Bad investigation and even worse trial. To think that the Broward DA’s Office would mishandle a double homicide case because of ego…unbelievable.

Meanwhile, YNW Melly recently made headlines thanks to Kendrick Lamar’s mention on Drake’s track “Euphoria.” “Kendrick Lamar is one of my favorite rappers, so I’m honored and terrified… I’m a household name, just for the wrong s**t!” Melly said TMZ about the controversial shout. We’ll see whether or not this retrial spells better news for him in the future.
