Art dealer Brent Sikkema’s final moments revealed in diary after ‘killed in husband’s hit-and-run’

The appalling violence committed against acclaimed art dealer Brent Sikkema has been revealed after his crime diary was unearthed.

On January 13, the art dealer was found dead in his two-story vacation home in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he had moved after a two-year-long divorce trial with his ex Daniel, 53.

Sikkema, 75, was killed in a hit allegedly financed by her ex-husband, who was seeking a bigger payout in their divorce settlement.

His death sparked a manhunt, leading authorities to delivery driver Alejandro Triana Prevez just five days after Sikkema’s death.

I provide named. Sikkema’s ex-husband as the person who hired him to kill the art dealer.

In the divorce, Daniel sought $6 million of Sikkema’s reported $20 million fortune, giving her the alleged motivation to kill her millionaire ex-husband.

Daniel has maintained his innocence since being named by Prevez.

“I hope that based on the evidence and not the false accusations, what really happened will come out,” Daniel told the Wall Street Journal.

Now, as speculation swirls about whether the grieving ex-husband was part of a scheme to eliminate Sikkema, Prevez’s prison diary reveals the gore of the art dealer’s final moments.

“He finds (Sikkema) sleeping with his mouth open, his naked body covered by silky sheets, breathing calmly,” Prevez wrote in a third-person account of entering the room where Sikkema would meet his end .

The account continues, documenting Prevez’s own feelings about the crime he is about to commit.

“He moves around the edge of the bed in silence, trying to breathe calmly but failing,” the entry reads.

Adam Montgomery has been jailed for life for brutally murdering his 5-year-old daughter Harmony after coldly refusing to reveal the location of her body.

“He closes his eyes and throws himself on top of the victim, letting the knife in,” he continues.

Prevez’s entry goes on to explain how Sikkema fought back against his attack, eventually succumbing to multiple stab wounds.

“‘He starts the fight, pulls out the knife with tears in his eyes and stabs three more times trying to make him (Sikkema) stop moving, an image that will never be erased,” the entry concludes.

Although Prevez’s entry admits to stabbing the art dealer four times, an autopsy revealed he suffered a total of 18 penetrating wounds.

The delivery driver also details how, after brutalizing Sikkema, he apologized before covering the body with a sheet and fleeing the scene.

“I will be deeply grateful”

Sikkema’s final minutes weren’t the only thing Prevez apparently documented.

The killer explained how he came to know and would eventually kill for Daniel.

Prevez attended the Polytechnic School of Havana, where he came to know both Sikkema and Daniel, who were married at the time.

The couple hired him to look after their property in Havana, which he did for years before finally traveling to Sao Paulo to reconnect with Daniel in 2022.

I will be deeply grateful to you, to the point where you will be part of my family and neither you nor your family will want for anything.”

The diary of Alejandro Triana Prevez

During this trip to Sao Paulo, Prevez recalled that Daniel asked him to kill Sikkema.

Prevez recounts in his diary that Daniel offered him $200,000 and a place to stay for the hit.

“The plan: If you take my ex’s life before the divorce process is over and that makes me a widower,” he quotes Daniel as saying.

“I will pay you two hundred thousand dollars and I will be deeply grateful to you, to the point where you will be part of my family and neither you nor your family will want for anything,” the alleged offer continued.

THE PLAN WAS GOING ON

According to Prevez, he did not immediately accept the offer to kill Sikkema, telling Daniel that he would “think about the proposal”.

While he was considering the offer, between $300 and $500 were deposited into his account, which Brazilian police later linked to an account in Daniel’s name.

Daniel’s lawyers claim that this money was to pay Prevez for his work in Havana.

According to Prevez’s account, he traveled to Rio de Janeiro twice in 2023.

It’s like a shotgun, but you only get one shot. The most important thing, though: it’s silent.”

The first time, he was there to plan the murder, the second was to commit it, but then he backed out of the deal.

Daniel told the man that, “If you don’t want to do it, don’t do it, but forget that I exist.”

Finally, according to Prevez’s explanation, he was unable to support his family, so he returned to Daniel and accepted the offer.

He bought a $389 Jag 2 crossbow, planning to use it in the murder.

“It’s like a rifle, but you only get one shot. The most important thing, though: it’s silent,” wrote Prevez’s diary.

But at the last minute, with no explanation revealed, Prevez chose to use a knife that would end up stabbing Sikkema 18 times, ending his life.
