Leeds South West & Morley: General Election 2024 result – Mark Sewards beats Andrea Jenkyns

Labour’s Mark Sewards won the new seat of Leeds South West & Morley in the 2024 general election.

He received 17,681 votes compared to Tory candidate Andrea Jenkyns’ 9,258. The Conservatives have held the Morley and Outwood constituency since ousting Labour’s Ed Balls in 2015.

Following last year’s boundary changes, Farnley & Wortley Ward voters now vote in the new Leeds South West and Morley constituency, which also includes Ardsley & Robin Hood, Morley North and Morley South council wards.

Turnout was 56.17 percent, out of an electorate of 71,854.

Mr Sewards also represents Farnley & Wortley as a councilor on Leeds City Council. The result will see Mr Sewards resign from the council and a by-election in the ward will be held later this year.
