Wiltshire writer ran 62 ultramarathons in 62 days

Frank Wainwright raises money for children’s charities

A writer from Wiltshire is running 62 ultramarathons in 62 days to raise money for youth development charities.

Frank Wainwright, 54, from Chippenham, aims to cover every cathedral city in England.

He will be in Salisbury on Monday 29th July.

Along his 2,000-mile journey, he will also traverse five national trails and six national parks.

The program now covers most of the country – with various local elements included, such as wearing a Viking helmet around York, stocking up on fish and chips in Great Yarmouth and enjoying a visit to Buckingham Palace once he’s finished his the day in London.

The ethos of Frank’s Big TOE (Tour of England) aims to encourage and support the link between urban life and outdoor wellbeing as part of youth development and inspiring the next generation. Frank will be raising funds for a number of charities including the Brathay Trust – which inspires young people to make positive change.

Frank Wainwright said:

“Being in isolation in 2020 has given me a new appreciation for England – I’ve been traveling around it as much as I can, running and making new friends, finding inspiration at every turn.

“Throughout my past experiences, I have always supported youth and the outdoors. I am very positive about the next generation – given the right opportunities, they are destined to be better than us. The money raised and the message received will be used to hopefully build a lasting legacy – for young people growing up to take the best of the country we live in and make it even better.”
